Playa Grande is very close to some of the best secret snorkeling beaches in Guanacaste. Take a guided snorkeling tour and see spotted eagle rays, tropical fish, sea turtles, octopus, coral, and a vast array of marine life directly off the beach. For a nominal fee, a Costa Rican snorkeling tour guide is available; free diving in pristine waters is a true delight. Those who want to try their luck right off the beaches can head to Playa Conchal and Playa Danta. These are just two beaches teeming with wildlife, and visitors can rent snorkel gear right off the beach from local vendors. A few guides park small boats in the bay at Conchal, and for a fee they take guests snorkeling and spear fishing in remote spots.
If taken to the right spot, visitors to Guanacaste are guaranteed to catch the sight of sharks, a variety of rays and other large fish. Consider bringing a lunch and pairing your tour with sailing, ATV or horseback travel. Never a disappointment, Costa Rica snorkeling is easily described as breathtakingly colorful, beautiful, and full of aquatic life.
