Overnight Adventure to Arenal

Costa Rica is home to a great number of volcanoes, but none are as spectacular are Arenal. For the past fifty years, Arenal is the country’s most active volcano. Although it has entered into a resting phase in 2010, meaning its eruptions have paused for the time being, Arenal is far from dormant and one of the country’s best-known and most visited volcanoes. A puff of smoke or gases can be seen on occasion, but lava flows have since ceased.

Arenal Overnight tour explores the beautiful and lush area around the nearest active volcano from Playa Grande, about a 3.5-hour drive away. Drive yourself or be driven and accompanied by a naturalist guide to learn more about the area. Upon arrival, hike down the steep hill to a majestic, pounding waterfall and swimming hole. Spend your afternoon enjoying and learning more about Costa Rican species including frogs, insects, birds, reptiles, and sloths by taking a guided hike in the rainforest areas. At the end of the day, relax at the world famous Tabacon Hot Springs, soaking your tired muscles in Arenal’s thermal hot springs and enjoying an evening cocktail.

See another one of Costa Rica’s microclimates, but be sure to bring your rain jacket as this area receives much more precipitation that coastal regions.
