Venture out away from the Playa Grande coastline via kayak and you will reach beaches like the elusive Playa Amor, which is only accessible by sea. Paddle directly up to the estuary of Las Baulas National Park to see monkeys, caiman, and a variety of exotic birds, plants, flowers, and other wildlife.

Bahia de los Piratas, Playa Danta, Playa Flamingo, and Playa Conchal are all located in protected bays, and have calmer waters. Kayakers looking to catch a wave can try the estuary mouth or the outer reef at Avellanas.

Customize your kayak adventure with a guided tour or enjoy uninhibited harmony with nature; bring along a fishing pole and a camera to capture up the scenic beauty. Kayak travel is an invigorating way to discover the coast of Costa Rica, unmatched by any other mode of transportation. Consider combining your experience with snorkeling and/or paddleboarding as well. With over 802 miles of coastline, Costa Rica is ripe for kayaking adventures!

Kayaks can be rented in the area at a daily or weekly rate. Ask your hotel staff or house concierge to arrange tours and rentals.
